this is build that i am currently building...im listing the main componets....as im doing an upgrade from an amd build to SB

current build\
HDD: seagate 1tb
GPU: msi gtx 460 hawk OC 925/1856/2221
PSU:corsair tx650
RAM: Gskills 2 x 2gb 1333
MB: amd 760gm-gs3
CPU:p henom ii x3 720be@3.2ghz...unlocked 4th

upgraded build
HDD: seagate 1tb i think its old...(should i get the samsung spinpoint f3?)

GPU: msi gtx 460 hawk OC 925/1856/2221...possible sli in the near future ...OC both to 850/1800 which should put it above an gtx 580...is it worth it?

PSU:corsair tx650 i read that being a quality PSU should handle 460s fine...benchmarks show it using 575w at full load OC so i should be fine

RAM: Gskills 2 x 2gb 1333

MB: ? suggestions ? i would most likely sli unless you suggest otherwise(z68/p67)

CPU:i5 2400...i already bought it at microcenter....their MB prices arent as good as CPU prices unless you get the 2500k where you get $50 off the MB which i dont have money for...

i have about $150 at the moment and more money to come

Wait out on upgrading the HDD, you don't need to get another HDD yet. Specially not with current prices.

The only thing you could possibly upgrade is the CPU/MB but that's about it the rest is fine. But IMO you can hold up with an unlocked 720. That's basically a 955 which holds up pretty well. You should just upgrade to a 9xx series chipset motherboard so you can SLI then you wouldn't need to get a CPU.

Cheapest board supporting SLI with AMD at the moment.

@aznshinobi i already got the i5 2400...its was crazy how the dual core i3 2100 beat top of the line phenom ii .....so i decided to go with the four core version of the i3 2100 which is basically a i5 2400.....@sosofm thanks sosofm for the MB suggestion ..do you think sli gtx 460s OC'd at 850/1800 could last for two to three years gaming at 1920x1800 on 32 inch screen on high details..??... should i consider a ram upgrade to 8gb??...

4GB should be plenty for gaming, since you already have that. If it were a new build and you were getting Ram, I would suggest getting an 8 gb (2x4GB) kit.

I think you meant 1920x1080 on your 32 in screen, as for your SLI'd 460s lasting 2-3 years, well that depends on what new games (that you just HAVE to play) come out in that time period. :bounce:
