Will my PC work for Maya and other 3d modeling Programs

Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if my custom built PC(1 1/2 years old) is viable for 3d modeling on programs like Maya. Basically, I need to know if I should upgrade or not, and if so, what to upgrade to, or do I need to built a whole new rig.

My Build
Mother Board: GIGABYTE GA-790XTA
Processor : AMD Phenom II Black Edition X4 955
Video Card : HIS Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro)
Harddrive : WD Black 1Tb
Power : Antec 750W
OS : Windows 7 Home

I think it will work for now, but I would get a Phenom ii x6 and maybe a Professional graphic card if you dont care about gaming. What ram you got?

I have the rigsaw with 8gigs. Sadly, I love gaming.

Then stay with the 5850 and just upgrade to Phenom ii x6. Also you could upgrade to SSD to make Maya load models faster, I think.
