New video card for old system

I want to get the best possible card for this old system.
Im looking at a 5670 but i wonder if its overkill for this old system.

With the 305 watt power supply you are limited. your power supply will not power it.
Plus the P4 wound not keep up with the card and bottleneck it .
Look for a 4650 dr3 card. or a card rated for a 400 watt supply.
Your power supply will put out 305 wats continous. The same as cheap generic 400 watt supplys. the manufaturers of the cards know this and rate the cards at cheapo power supply levels.

In the link it stated 256mb ram. if so go at least 2 gig of ram. if you can afford it 4 gig of ram.

im getting 4 gigs ram.sorry i should have mentioned that.
im assuming i should go with 512 or should i get the 1gb version?

512 will be all it needs.
It is not fast enough to use 1gig of memory. Most cards with 1 gig are GDDR2 and nor GDDR3.
See if you can find a 512 GDDR3 model.

thx for the help.what other cards would u recomend ?i would like to have
a geforce option but i think im going with the ddr3 4650.
i want to play older shooter games up to mw2 with everything maxed and say 1280x1024 res.also whats a good name brand to use.once again thx for the advice
