My question is which of those is the better of the two? I'm not looking for anything crazy and I don't really want to spend more than 60 bucks so with all my research this is what i've found for the price. Right now I have the 82945G Express Chipset Family with 256 mb memory so almost anything is better than what I have. Also will both of these be compatible with my motherboard?

From what I see the GeForce is the way to go but the quite heat sinks on the Radeon appeal to me. I worry about the noise of the fan.

Specs on both are as follows.

Radeon HD 5450 Silence

Core Clock: 650MHz
Memory: 1024MB GDDR3
Memory Clock: 1000MHz (Effective)
Processing Cores: 80

Display Connectors: 1 VGA, 1 Dual-Link DVI-I & 1 HDMI
HDCP Capable
DirectX 11 Support
OpenGL 3.2 Support

ATI Stream Technology

and

GeForce GT 520 - 1 GB
CUDA Cores 48
Graphics Clock (MHz) 810 MHz
Processor Clock (MHz) 1800
Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 6.5
Memory Clock (MHz) 900 MHz
Standard Memory Config 1024 MB
Memory Interface DDR3
Memory Interface Width 64-bit
Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 14.4
OpenGL 4.1
Bus Support PCI-E 2.0 x16
Supported Technologies DirectX 11, CUDA, PhysX, 3D Vision
3D Vision Ready Yes

And if you have a suggestion on something better and still and in the same price range please feel free to drop a link or something. Thanks.

The GeForce GT 520 is the more powerful card.

An alternative that is still in your budget is the passively cooled Radeon HD 6450 which is a little more powerful than the GT 520. See following for benchmark:

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GT_520...

See following passively cooled Radeon HD 6450s:

HIS H645H2G Radeon HD 6450 2GB ==> $60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

XFX HD-645X-CNH2 Radeon HD 6450 2GB ==> $65 / $50 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

If you want the best performing video card (with a fan) in your budget, then consider the following Radeon HD 5670 for $43 after rebate. Of the 16 reviews, no one mentioned the fan was loud, but only one two mentioned the fan was quiet.

XFX HD-567X-ZNL3 Radeon HD 5670 1GB
