Hello,
I'm looking to upgrade my PC for around $900.

The only things worth salvaging from it are the PSU, HDD, and the GTX 460 card.

I'd like to purchase a new Mobo, RAM, CPU, and a case to fit it all in.

I'm looking towards the future with the build and want it to be compatible future upgrades.

I was thinking of getting the following:
■Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131791
■CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070

Any help would be much appreciated.

That mobo isn't worth the money. There are plenty of sub $150 boards that will do CFX and SLI and have gen 3...z68 chipset...and all the other stuff...asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3 is a good board...so is MSIz68g45 gen 3.

Wait for Ivy bridge or get a 2500k...the hyperthreading on 2600k does nothing for gaming..infact it can cause microstutter on dual GPU setups...get CM 212+ coooler for $20..one of the 2 boards I listed.,...$80 case like cougar evolution or CM 690II or any other that you like....and spend 500$ on the graphics card...sell the GTX 460...that is the most future proof. The radeon 7870 should fit that budget ...2 of them or with price drops emminent in 2-3 weeks..you might be able to get a 6970 for under $250 or GTX 570...its likely.

That's quite the ambitious choice for a motherboard. I would suggest something closer to 130 dollars, which would give you probably all the things you want from it. The lga 1155 slot type is good, and of course, you'll want a sandybridge i5 2500k, and 2x4GB 1600mhz DDR3 ram. Also, look for the antec 300 case. That's a very popular one. Upgrades more expensive than that won't be as cost-effective.
