  1. Case: Raven 02
    GPU:4 7970s
    cpu:3690x would be best but 3930K is very close and like $500 less
    Mother Board: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
    Ram:G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop is best but honestly you wont notice much of a diference with more than 8gb of 1600mhz ram or higher
    PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1275M 1275W
    CPU Heatsink:NH-D14 SE2011
    Thermal compound:Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
  2. Yes buy all this and you will have some of the best for about 6 months then new products will be released and you will no longer have the best.
  3. Also if part of your definition of "best" includes reasonably quiet operation, that system will not qualify.

    Maybe start with one 7970 and only add more if you find you truly require it.

    Don't skimp on your storage - you'll want a fast SSD for your OS and commonly used programs and lots of regular HD space for everything else.
  4. What are you planning to do with that machine?
  5. The 590 / 6990 are dogs.

    Guru3D uses the following games in their test suite, COD-MW, Bad Company 2, Dirt 2, Far Cry 2, Metro 2033, Dawn of Discovery, Crysis Warhead. Total fps (summing fps in each game @ 1920 x 1200) for the various options in parenthesis (single card / SL or CF) are tabulated below along with their cost in dollars per frame single card - CF or SLI:

    $ 215.00 560 Ti - 900 Mhz (495/862) $ 0.43 - $ 0.50
    $ 340.00 570 (524/873) $ 0.65 - $ 0.78
    $ 500.00 580 (616/953) $ 0.81 - $ 1.05
    $ 725.00 6990 (762/903) $ 0.95 - $ 1.61
    $ 750.00 590 (881/982) $ 0.85 - $ 1.53

    As you can see, adding the 2nd 590 gives you a measly 11% increase. Three 580's give ya 1030 fps for the same $1500 as the two 590's.

    Since ya said money is no object :)

  9. You don't really sound like your into building your own based on your questions and responses, and since your budget is apparently limitless I'd say you need to hop on over to OriginPC.com, or Falcon-NW.com. They both build some ultra-high end systems for ultra high end dollars while offering ultra-high end support.

    Origin is my favorite, they'll do just about anything you want for the right money including custom paint jobs, custom water loops, lighting, cable sleeving etc....
  10. I have to agree with 87ninefiveone.... IBUYPOWER.com isnt a bad place to go either.
  11. Check out Origin they have just started providing 24/7 support/lifetime with USA based techs. Sounds like you may need a lot of hand holding with this system.
