Radeon 9200 driver windows xp 1680x1050

Hi all,
My computer with radeon 9200 graphical card (yes, I know it is old...) does not support 1680x1050. I downloaded latest drivers and ''Catalyst Control Center'' from AMD/ATI.
The card only has a VGA output; so will it never support other than 4x3 screen-formats?
I would guess that a driver simply should recognize the format and render the screen appropriately...

I have an Intel-R 4CPU chipset 3GHz.
OS is Windows XP Professional.

Anybody having a solution?

Thanks,
Frank

  1. This one is compatible and recommended by AMD for your card http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/radeon-prer300-xp.aspx
The newest ones will have issues.
  2. Hi rolli59,

I had already done that. To be sure I just used your link to reinstall CCCv6.11; prior to that also had downloaded all DirectX (full SDK library of .cab files).
However, my resolution of 1680x1050 is still not supported. No change.

Unfortunately I can not copy a screendump here but the Catalyst GUI shows the resolution choices:
    640x480
    ....
    ....
    1280x960
    1280x1024
    1360x678
    1360x1024
    1600x1200

The AMD/ATI website does not even have some sort of helpdesk; pretty frustrating....

    Thanks anyway.

  3. You might need a driver for your monitor!
  4. That's what I thought first; but monitor should be plug and play. No drivers on Chimei website.
The manual of the CMV223D monitor says:
Video chips below support the resolution 1680x1050:
    Geforce4 Ti4200 , Geforce PCX6200 ,
    ATI Radeon 9600 , ATI RadeonRX300
    Matrox P750 , Nvidia Geforce2 , I865G , I915G

So looks like 1680x1050 is not supported on a ATIRadeon9200.

I noticed there is more people with this problem.... e.g.
