Help buy New Card Nvidia or ATI

Hi i've got just over £100 to spend on a gaming card and I was looking at a few cards but would like some advice.

What the main difference between ATI and Nvida

CUDA ratings are a good way to see if ur Nvidia card is high but whats ATI got score a card with.

and what are the main features you look for in GPU, I was told Core speed memory and bit rate but if that's high compared to another card but texture and pixel are are better what win's.

I would like a GTX 570/580

But would be happy to settle for either of these two but which one and why!

i know the ATI scores better but what makes it so good off a card please help!

The 6870 is a great card, and outperforms a GTX550 by quite a bit, but you would be better off spending the little extra and get an HD6950.
