Hello all,
I need to setup my LAN card to access 2 gateways.
OS: winXP sp3
IP: 192.168.1.101

One gateway is 192.168.1.254 to the internet.
Another gateway is 192.168.1.253 to access (via VPN) the other subnets 192.168.x.x

Is there a solution? I can even install a second lan card.

Thanks
Alberto

Your computer can only have one gateway unless you setup custom routing on XP, which I'm not sure how to do.

Unless somebody else can make suggestions, your .254 router may be able to have a custom routing configuration setup to route the other 192.168 networks to .253 rather than the WAN. This should be able to be setup in most router's advanced configurations. Then any computers on the LAN will be able to communicate to the internet and VPN transparently without custom configurations.

Others may have other ideas but that sounds like the minimal config to be transparent to your XP machine.

This is what I'm trying to do. Still don't know how.

Cisco router can do this, but I cannot touch them because not all the PCs in the lan are allowed to access the 192.168.x.x network.

Thanks anyway, I'm still looking around.

****** SOLVED *******

At the command prompt I added:

C:\>route ADD 192.168.0.0 MASK 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.253 METRIC 3

Now I reboot the pc to see if this route is permanently saved.
