So I had a system all figured out and ready to buy next week (after midyears). But then I realized the price of everything needed to include a monitor. I do have an old horible 800 x 600 but whats the point of having a 6870 on that monitor? Anyway. To get the monitor into the budget (~700) I had to change the motherboard to one from microcenter. You know the 50 dollar of deal?

So this was my old build

psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817371031

dvd drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827151244

hd + case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.815077

ram+ video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.808206

mobo- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157279

cpu- i2500k from micro center

Monitor would make it 800 or so

New build- everything the same EXCEPT

Monitor- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824262011

Mobo- Asrock Z68 Pro3-M Socket 1155 Z68 mATX Intel Motherboard Heres the link to it at newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] erboard%27 - I KNOW this doesn't have some big features like pcie 3.0 or the ability to xfire but i would be more likely to buy a new card and just stick it in then to xfire my old one anyway.

What i am asking here is do u think i am cutting a corner with the mobo that might being really bad in the future? Or is this an ok thing to do? If not is there a way i could possibly fit a new monitor into my budget? Preferably 1080p like i have been looking at already.

I think you will be ok. The single 16x PCIe Gen2 will be able to run even the PCIe Gen3 cards just fine.
And you can always upgrade the motherboard to something better later if you absolutely must, the 109 minus the $50 off is a steal and for sure you will benefit from the monitor in experience more than the motherboard would give you.
