hello, after hours of research deciding what graphics card and motherboard to go with, i decided to go with:

GFX: EVGA SuperClocked 015-P3-1582-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit (possible SLI)

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z LGA 1155 Intel Z68.

about, 15 seconds after reaching this conclusion, i read that someone hoping to get that exact setup said they are not compatible. Did he have a faulty piece of hardware, or is there any truth to the matter? i almost cant believe this could be true.

There is no reason why they shouldn't be compatible.
