I do not want them all to open the same. On some, I want icons, others
details, or thumbnail view. No matter what I try, I can't get control
panel to always open full screen with icons. It might do it a few times
and then ga back to a smaller screen with details. TIA.

Hi,

Explorer remembers folder settings only upto 400 and so you will have to
increase this setting.

Download Tweak UI 2.10 from microsoft.com and then use the Customization
tweak in Explorer tab to increase the size of the folder.settings.

Read more about Tweak UI here
http://www.winxpsolution.com/Tweakuixppro.aspx

And to make the windows open maximized, close all the other windows apart
from Control panel. then using the mouse Drag the handles so that the window
covers the full screen. when it is fully maximized, close the window and then
next time Explorer will remember the last setting.
