Weird Graphics Error

So I have a evga 6800 gs on my desktop, when all of a sudden my screen dimmed for no apparent reason. Then my screen went to black while my computer was still on. I could still hear my music playing, but like I said, the screen was black. I tried restarting my monitor, and for about 3 seconds I could see my desktop, but then the screen went black.

Every time I turn my monitor back on, I can see my desktop for about 3 seconds, then it turns to black. I tried restarting my computer, and my computer initiated a system restore. I did a system restore, the problem still happened.

My video card seemed to be running a little hot, but other than that, I have no idea what the problem could be. Any suggestions?

when was the last time you dust out the computer,also if you can test the card and monitor on another system one at the time

I think you should reseat the card after cleaning the dust from the case.
