I'm not trying to be an ass-hole or anything but you could of just googled "GTS 250 power consumption".

I did this for you and came up with;

165w idle
237w load

So if you simple take those amounts and double them you will have an approximate power consumption.

That all being said, every card runs slightly different and your results may vary slightly.

Ah warhead0 I dont know where you got those numbers for wattage since you didnt source them out

as per Nvidia website link found easily by googling
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gts_250_us.html

the max wattage drawn is 150w using one 6pin connector
with 450w for single card recommended

so it would be @300w for both cards
but that is not total system draw
amount of HDs,CPU TDP,amount of Optical drives and addin cards needs to be figured out

this is a decent PSU calculator for determing PSU wattage
it does overestimate a little as all PSU calcs do
but is one of the best

http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

and warhead0 please refrain from profanity on Toms
at least make it something like butt hole or a-hole
just out of respect you know
I have been know to use a few choice words myself :) LOL

here is toms review of GTS 250
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gts-250,2172-10.html

showing TOTAL system wattage at
167 idle
237 full load

you would want to look at their test setup to see system specs and compare to your own

but roughly add 150 (single card draw load) to the 237
gives you about a 387 total system load
or about 400w

OCZ makes decent PSUs
so 550w should be okay
though moving up to a 650-700w PSU would give you more headroom

You were right with the total system draw
but it helps to source out your info
and also note whether it is total system draw or single card draw

Its all good :)
and if people would google then half this forum would be rendered useless :) LOL

Yea my CPU is Intel i7 860 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W
I got about 3 HD one is a 7200 RPM and I believe the other two are 5400RPM
DVD is model: iHAS224-06 Make: Lite on
No other PCI addon besides the graphic cards

in regards to other things, sometimes it is nice to get a some what human response, compared to just reading a website from google. But I did search just wanted to double check with other people out there.

I also like using the forums instead of googling all the time myself
It is especially good to hear from someone who has the same equipment
or been in the same situation
there are certain questions that pop up alot for example
why does my cpu run at 1200mhz instead of 3000 mhz
(intel speedstep or amd coolnquiet are the cause)
which could easily be answered by searching toms or google

but most of us regulars at toms dont mind answering those kind of questions

at one time or another all of us here were "noobs" or beginners
nobody starts off knowing everything
if it wasnt for forums and people asking questions
I wouldnt know half of what I know now

good luck with the setup
