GTX 560 TI 1GB or Radeon HD 6950 2GB??

So I'm planning to build a new computer and I'm looking for a good graphics card for gaming. My options are:

MSI GTX 560 TI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127565

Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102954

the 560 ti is $225, and the 6950 is $245.. not too big of a difference.. so which card do you think is better??
I plan to use a single monitor and play games like skyrim, bf3, mw3, league of legends, maybe others too

More about radeon 6950

    There's the raw stats; the 6950 is both faster and has double the memory; and the memory alone is more than enough to make it the better purchase.

    IMO the 6950 is a no brainer.
  2. Wait till the 29th, rumors has it that is the launch date for the 560 Ti-448 / 1.28GB VRAM for the same price as the original Ti.

    Might make it able to surpass the 6950.

    I don't have doubts on the launch date, but I'm sure the price will be jacked... wouldn't hurt to wait a few days to confirm

    The problem w/ this comparison is "what 560 and what 6950 ? The "reference" 560 (455 fps) falls just a bit short of the "reference" 6950 (479) in a single card configuration . But in SLI, the 560 wins the battle 792 to 751.....so it's a toss up ..... if ya start out w/ 1 card, the better card would be the 6950, but if ya planning long term to eventually double up, the 560 is the better choice.

    However, that was last year .... now we have factory OC'd models with better VRM and oversized coolers on both. Looking at the factory overclocked models, the 560 Ti jumps to 495 fps to the factory OC'd 6950's 484.... In SLI/CF, the 560'ds lead explodes to 100 fps, 862 to 759. The factory OC'd 560's are the same price as the reference models, the 6950 OC'd models usually run about $20 more. So the choice today would be the 900MHz 560 Ti's....In SLI, the 900MHz 560's TI's even top the CF'd 6970.

    Guru3D uses the following games in their test suite, COD-MW, Bad Company 2, Dirt 2, Far Cry 2, Metro 2033, Dawn of Discovery, Crysis Warhead. Total fps (summing fps in each game @ 1920 x 1200) for the various options in parenthesis (single card / SL or CF) are tabulated below along with their cost in dollars per frame single card - CF or SLI:

    $ 220.00 6950 (479/751) $ 0.46 - $ 0.59
    $ 240.00 6950 Frozr OC (484/759) $ 0.50 - $ 0.63
    $ 205.00 560 Ti (455/792) $ 0.45 - $ 0.52
    $ 320.00 6970 (526/825) $ 0.61 - $ 0.78
    $ 215.00 560 Ti - 900 Mhz (495/862) $ 0.43 - $ 0.50

    However, as been said above, the new hybrid 560/570 comes out on Tuesday

    The GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores will be officially launched on November 29, and its recommended price is expected to be on par with that of the original GTX 560 Ti.

    My guess is the 560-448 will be at the current "retail" price of the 560 Ti ($250ish) with the 560 Ti continuing to be offered with rebates and discounts ($250 - $20-35 MIR)to provide some price separation.
  5. Take the amd 6950 2gb it is faster and better than the 560ti
  6. So basically the 560 ti 900 MHz will get higher framerates than the 6950?
    I heard there was a gigabyte 560 ti soc to 1000 MHz but I couldn't find it on newegg.. does anyone know where to purchase it for $250 or less?
    I also heard that you can unlock the 6950 2gb to 6970. If I unlock the 6950 2gb to 6970, which will be bettter 560 ti 900 mhz or unlocked 6950 to 6970? And also if I overclocked the 6950 to 900-950 MHz, and kept the 560 ti at the factory OC 900 MHz, which is the card that will give higher framerates?

    Thanks!
