Okay, so it's almost Black Friday and the EGG has a couple video cards for sale... I'm contemplating on which card I want though; it's either the GTX 570 (original pick), HD 6950 (said to be unlockable), or the older but much beefier HD 5970.

- EVGA 012-P3-1570-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 -- ($348)

The HD 6950 is at a tempting price being that it's only $230, however, would it really exceed the performance of the GTX 570 being its stock form and better yet, unlocked? I know the HD 5970 would own both of these cards but it's extremely power consuming and may create A LOT of heat! Now, here's your chance to chime in and help me decide!

5970 is very powerful, more powerful than the 6950 and 570 but you get 2 gpus in cfx and (i think) 1 gb effective vram (per gpu).
6950 is better for price-performance-power consumption and the 2 gb vram will help it in high res. gaming. 2 of these in cfx make a powerful combination.
570 is more powerful than 6950, better for a single card build, nvidia has better driver support, physx.
i hope you already have a psu that can support any of these cards.

Yea I have an XFX 650W that has more than plenty amps on the 12v line to power any of these cards... Not really looking to crossfire any of these cards but rather going with either the 570 or 5970. I was mainly trying to compare the 6950 modded (unlocked shaders) to the others.
