i bought a graphics card second hand which i was told was a gigabyte gtx470 superoverclock, which has a standard core clock of 700mhz
upon bringing it home i have realised it infact is not the superoverclock as the core clock is 630mhz on top of this im not sure its even supposed to be a 470 as it has one 8 pin and one 6 pin connector, it shows up in cpu-z as a 470 so could it be a bios flashed 480.
heres the one it most resembles apart from the power connection thing

i wont be taking it back as it was a steal and works well but id just like to know exactly what i have

The 8 pin connector is for more stable voltage for overclocking.

I looked at the specs for the card it appears the actual speed is supposed to be 630mhz on the core.

I have heard of 470's overclocking to 900mhz a more likely result would be 750mhz which will give you another massive jump.

all 470's ive seen are listed as having to 6pin connnectors on the board, mine has a 8pin and a 6pin ive plugged the right cables into these and its overclocked to 770mhz core stable, but why does it have the 8pin when its not supposed to and the cards specs list two 6pin connectors

i know that its just that according to the gigabyte website there shouldnt be a 8pin socket on the board

nope totally stock voltage, just a custom fan profile :) i had it overvolted at 850mhz core earlier but that was unstable so i might just leave it like this atm only cost me £100 as well im dead happy :)

full voltage on afterburner so 1087mv, temps were gettin in the low 90's with 100% fan so i shut kombustor down, currently testing 800mhz with stock voltage and it seems stable, temps peak at 82c with my new fan curve at stock voltage in kombustor
