Getting new PSU to meet the minimum requirements for my new graphics card. I need a 450w PSU. Does this look at all bad for a budget power supply?

Yikes, is there some reason you need a Dell branded PSU?

That thing is scary.. please list your model of PC and what graffics card you are upgrading too.

Don't buy that!!!! thats a server Power Supply!!

I would bet money you cant fit that into your case..

The graphics card I intend to get:

I'm low on cash at the moment I'm limited to about £95 for a PSU and Graphics card but I've found a Radeon 7750 for £69.

Why won't it fit? Is it made to fit in Dell computers only or is it too big?

Thanks

From what little i could find on that first PSU you linked its a EPS Server power supply also you note it has a extra bracket on it. You would have to remove that bracket and then extend some of the wires to make that fit into your case. Plus its used!! a server is on 24/7 for years.. PSU's have a normal life span. That thing is scary.

I'll check around and see what we can find that would fit your Case better.

you can run the 7750 off a 300w PSU, it gets all its power from the PCI-E x16 slot

So 26 GBP is your budget? For the PSU?

Thanks ct1615, and may I ask, won't the 149/229 watts added with the other components surpass 300 watts? Sorry if I'm reading the graph wrong, or have a misunderstanding of computer hardware.

I just thought that I needed a 450w psu because that's what it says the minimum requirement is.

Alderon, if you can find something I'd greatly appreciate it. £26 is just about my limit but I guess I could stretch that to the 35/50 mark if absolutely necessary.

Cheers

Core i7 Test System Specs

Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition (3.30GHz)
x4 4GB G.Skill DDR3-1600(CAS 8-8-8-20)
Gigabyte G1.Assassin2 (Intel X79)
Crucial m4 512GB (SATA 6Gb/s)

the 149w-229w includes all the above hardware (including the video card) at idle and during gaming. at your budget, you won't get anything better then what is currently in your PC. if you want to save up for a budget (yet solid) PSU, i suggest the corsair 430w which can power newer cards like the AMD 7770.

AMD recommendations are for bottom of the barrel PSU.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CORSAIR-Builder-Series-CX430-Su...

Yeah, i can't find anything anywhere near 26 GBP that i wouldn't consider a fire hazard.

The CX430 is 36 GBP i would shop around your other PC stores and see if i couldn't find a better deal then Amazon thou. CX430 will last a good wile and power your system just fine. Also you are getting a great deal as Corsair sells these at cost, they make there money on the more pricey units in there line.

Also whats up with VAT (Value added Tax??) Dang thats a huge tax if that what it is.

I guess the Corsair it is then. I've found one for £31 which I guess will have to do. VAT is at 20% at the moment. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Thanks guys.

funny that 2 of us posted the same PSU. It truly is a good unit. My wifes is powering a HD 5670 card ,2 7200 rpm HDD, a Athlon II about 4 fans and some lights.

Done. I bought it from Amazon since I trust them it ended up costing me £40 (£36+4 for delivery). It should be here sometime next week along with the graphics card. Cheers again.
