Been looking for a two-player ( simultaneously) game or three for
our PS2. My daughter is 9. Wife picked up shek2 today. The packaging
touts four player mode, and brags switching amongst the 4 characters
playing as one player, but doesnt implicitly say more.

Before I break the seal on the package, anyone know if two players can
play simultaneously onscreen ?

Also, any good two player titles y'all can suggest?

Thanks!

They can. It is a very simple game however. There are lots of 2 player
titles but you have to be a little more specific to the format. Since we
are talking about a 9 year old girl, Shrek 2 may be exactly what you are
looking for.

The grandkids went through it with my wife but I don't recall a two
player option, so I looked at the packing for our platinum version and
it clearly states 1 or 2 players and upto 4 on multitap. Instructions
run something like player two just needs to press start or plug in a
controller and press start. They then select one of the remaining
three characters of the group of four.

The kids loved the game and it is one of the better looking titles
around, but didn't take too long to beat. My wife also enjoyed it.

Can you tell me where you found the instructions for starting the
second player, or the sequence you used to start the second player?

I didn't ask if you're US or UK... anyway, my UK booklet has it on
page 17 going over onto 18 - in the Playing The Game section under the
header 'multiplayer mode. page 18 has the actual how to do it bit.

sorry, I should have said. it says

"The game automatically detects installed controller so additional
players can join a game in progress by pressing the start button and
inserting a controller or leave by removing a controller. when a new
player joins the selected character is taken over by him and reverts
to computer control when they leave"

Okay, I just tried it for you and you can start with both controls
inserted. when the other player wants to join the game he just needs
to press his start button and it lights up the next character. It's
pretty easy really, but of course as it doesn't have a two player mode
offered in the menu it is a bit confusing.
