Approximate Purchase Date: January/February 2012

Budget Range: Trying to stay around $1,000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, school work, media

Parts Not Required: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, speakers.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.

Country: USA.

Parts Preferences: Doesn't really matter I guess, I'm kinda leaning toward nvidia for GPU though.

Overclocking: Maybe.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe.

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080.

Additional Comments: As of now, I have a Phenom II X4 965 BE, Cyclone GTX 460 1GB, G-Skill Ripjaw series 4GB DDR3, OCZ Fatality 550W PSU. Everything else is stock from a HP I bought at Wal-Mart.

I'm kind of wanting to just start completely over from scratch, minus what I put in the parts not required section. Or should I get a 2nd GTX 460 and just SLI?

I guess that's about it, thanks for any help I get!

i5 2500k ~$230
ASRock Extreme 3 Gen 3 ~$130
get another stick of G.Skill or just buy a new kit since they are so cheap right now.
a good PSU (corsair, XFX, OCZ, Antec, seasonic) 750-850w ~130-150 incase you want another 460 for sli
A case of your liking, I suggest getting a 60-120GB SSD for a boot drive and a 1TB HDD if you have an extra otherwise that will cost you another 100-130.
This is below your budget, but if you want the best performance you could always go for a better GPU and just leave the 460 in your AMD build.

Thanks for the reply ... I took some of your advice and I think I found what I'm going to get ... although I still need some feedback on a video card ... Should I get another gtx 460 and go SLI or should I spend a little extra and go for a gtx 580?

Anyhow, this is what I'm looking at so far...

Case
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Motherboard
Corsair HX850 PSU
Core i5-2500k CPU
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB Memory
WD Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB HD
ASUS 24X DVD Burner
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO

Am I missing anything? And is all that compatible?

Case- get the haf 912- cheaper and better.

Psu-You don't need 850 watts even for sli 460. Get a 700 watt and get the 580- i believe 700 watt bronze should allow you to sli in the future but not sure.

Ram- You only need 8 gb for gaming- more than that you won't see a difference.
