Ok, here the situation I have 2 houses on the property. I want to provide wireless to both houses for sharing internet access. Sharing files won't be necessary, but I want to share the internet as to avoid paying the internet company twice. I'm not sure what the best method is to use.

There is an existing network in house one setup with a wireless router, so ideally extending it into house two would be best. The second house is not far away. I'm guessing at best here it's probably a lot closer than my guess, but it's under 250 feet away to the farthest point I would need to provide access to.

or you could build your own wireless bridge repeater by using one of these routers and upgrade their firmware with DD-WRT.

a bridge repeater will retransmit the wireless signal from your house.

it will help greatly if the two router could be in a line of sight.

Thanks for the advice. I was at a local best buy the other day looking at tv displays, but since I was there I wondered over to the networking section. I found a network extender from netgear. Here is the actual product.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/NETGEAR+-+Universal+Wi-Fi+Range+Extender/1243081.p?id=1218240386270&skuId=1243081&st=network extender&cp=1&lp=1

I seem to get anywhere from 2-3 bars for a signal when I hooked that up. So I guess that was an easy fix to my problem, but if it ends up not working I can always return it and try a method that was listed in this thread.
