I live on the upper two floors of a brownstone. The upper floor has a Lenovo W510 and a high speed cable modem. I'd like to link a flatscreen, wifi enabled, and an old Mac book on the lower floor. I've been advised to get an n dualband router. Any suggestions? Seems to be two camps: dlink and netgear. Am not terribly tech savvy on networking, however, I take direction well.

My experience Netgear is simpler to use, D-Link has more facilities.

I have seen one major failure of security in a D-Link router -- like I accidentally broke into a neighbour's system despite wireless security (and I could then repeat the sequence and break in again so it wasn't some fluke).

Netgear stuff has been use here for five years without a failure and I installed one of their routers in an office 3 years ago and haven't had to touch it since.
