I am running two EVGA 9800GT's which are 8.4" x 4.4" in dimension. The two cards
are in SLI mode and they are installed on a asus P6T v2 mb. The slots they are in
right now seem to be .........The top blue one, and the other skips one slot, and is
in the second white slot down.

I just ordered a Evga GTX 580 model 1584, and it is 10.5" x 4.4"
and I only have about an inch to the right of the blue slot before
it hits a hard drive.............so I may be able to move the HD down
but does it matter performance wise what slot I use ???? I just dont know
if only the blue one is to be used for a single card only.

Second question is: I have the following setup:

CPU: Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
Speed : 2.67 GHZ (overclocked to 3.5)
Motherboard: ASUS P6T DELUXE V2
Memory: 12 gigs of Corsair CM3X2G1600C9 2GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600
Video Cards: 2 NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (2x 112 SM4.0 1.4GHz, 2x 1GB DDR3 2x900MHz,
Hard drives: "2" WDC WD740ADFD-00NLR5 (74.4GB, SATA150, 3.5", 10000rpm, NCQ, 16MB Cache) : 69GB ( I have BF3 installed in a seperate partition by itself )
"1" WDC WD7500AADS-00L5B1 (750.2GB, SATA300, 3.5", NCQ, 32MB Cache) : 699GB
dvd:HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH20LP20 (ATA66, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache)
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A (ATA66, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache)
Case: Antec nine hundred two
X-fi XtremeGamer sound card
Creative Labs T7700 7.1 surround sound speaker system
Zalman 9900 LCD CPU cooler ******* at least im not running a stock cooler
Corsair TX850W Power Supply
Cyberpoint 850 AVR LED UP
Acer GD235 monitor ( 120 hz for 3D, and only 1920 x 1080 )
*********************************************************
Because I OC'ed my 920 and am getting a new 1584 GPU, I wanted to know if
my 10,000 rpm raptor hard drive is sufficient, or should I purchase a cheap
small 30 gig one? I read the http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-rift-ss...
and it only mentioned large TB ones. Thanks for your help with this !!!

It'll be fine to install the GTX580 in either the blue slot or white slot (both run at 16x bandwidth)

You're Raptor drive is fine, a faster drive like an SSD will mean that windows would load faster (providing you installed windows on the SSD) and file and folders would load faster, also file transfer would be faster... however your raptor wouldn't bottleneck the performance of either the Core i7 920 or GTX580.

Thank you so much for helping me determine that I really dont need a SSD !!!
I have one of the 70 GB raptors partitioned into two sections, One is
just BF3 and MW3, the other partition is just a storage area for pictures and
videos. Would it be better to just have the whole 70 gigs non partitioned
as far as better playing for BF3? or would the setup now be fine?

I am running Win 7 64 bit on the other raptor as well to speed that up
and then I have a 7200 rpm large one for junk stuff.

Thanks so much and sorry Im such a noob when it comes to knowing this stuff !!!

No problem :)

I would just leave the drives as they are, being partitioned won't make a difference.

The HDD is just there to store the files, whilst your playing a game like BF3 the RAM, CPU and graphics card are what counts towards performance.

Actually being partitioned can sanction data to inner parts of the drive rather than the outer, can't it?
