Hello!,

So today I had to replace my mobo as the other one died. So, when everything booted up it was fine for maybe an hour. Then I tried to play a game. After five minutes, I hear a loud POP and smell smoke. I can smell it coming from the PSU. I'm guessing that a conductor died. My question is, will my parts be okay and is this just a big coincidence? Or is this going to happen again?

hello;

are u sure it is from psu, such things used to happen for graphics cards, especially you were playing a game, so check you graphics card upward side and downward side and see if there is a capacitor that is broken.

also if it is psu then stop using it.

regards...

that'll be determined when the new PSU arrives. there is no test to check motherboard, cpu, ram, or vid card(s) until PSU power is applied. you may have found the culprit to your first motherboard problem.
