Hi there,

This is my first post on the forums and I was just looking for opinions/advice on an initial spec I've put together for a new system that will be mainly used for After Effects CS 5.5, Cinema 4d r12 and Premiere CS 5.5.

I'm looking to keep the system around £1500-£2000.

Spec:

Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Six Core Processor i7-3930K (3.2GHz) 12MB Cache

Motherboard ASUS® P9X79: INTEL® SOCKET LG2011

Memory (RAM) 32GB SAMSUNG QUAD-DDR3 1333MHz (8 X 4GB)

Graphics Card 1.5GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 580 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

Memory - 1 st Hard Disk 80GB INTEL® 320 SERIES SSD, SATA 3 Gb/s (upto 270MB/sR | 90MB/sW)

2 nd Hard Disk 1TB SATA-II 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 32MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

3 rd Hard Disk 1TB SATA-II 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 32MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

(* SSD drive as a boot disk for windows and the two other hard drives, one for source to read from and one for exports to write to?)

DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Memory Card Reader INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT

Power Supply CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE

Processor Cooling INTEL SOCKET LGA2011 STANDARD CPU COOLER

Sound Card ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

Network Facilities 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs

USB Options 6 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL (MIN 2 FRONT PORTS) AS STANDARD
(** better to get USB 3.0?)

Operating System Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

I've put together this spec from looking through forums, etc, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much
Andy

Looks good overall. My thoughts are below...

SSD - No reason not to go with a SATA 6.0GB/s model for better speeds. The Intel is OK, but you can do better if there are other options to choose from. A Crucial M4 or OCZ Agility 3 would be good...

USB 3.0 - The LGA2011 platform will have two USB 3.0 port in the rear and have the option for two more. Whether you get front USB 3.0 or not depends on your case.

Its currently on order, should be with me middle of next week hopefully. I changed the graphics card to the 3gb gtx580 and did go with a faster 6 gb/s SSD. Blew my budget out of the water, but won't be buying another for years after this! Will let you know how it fairs up once here... Are you planning to use yours for the same sort of programs denzlite?
