Hello jmccarty13;

Maybe the question should be: Will the C2D E6300 bottleneck the 550ti.
In some of the modern games it could. But overall, it should be a pretty good match.
If you're looking to upgrade your gaming performance without upgrading the CPU/MB it's a pretty good choice.

What resolution monitor do you have?
And what games are you most interested in?
Those factors can make a difference too.

That would be one of the C2Q Kentsfields, like a C2Q Q6600 2.4Ghz.

I play at a fairly low resolution 1366x768.

You probably won't be limited in gaming performance by the 550ti at that resolution.

You'll be fine. If you stumble across someone tossing a C2Q Q6600 or better then you might wanna take it, otherwise you'll be good to go at that resolution for some time.

Future games might need to be run at lower settings but you'll be okay.
