Hi. This thread contains a pretty good starting point for what I envision for a HTPC I want to build for DVR purposes, recording from an antenna rather than cable or satellite.
Approximate Purchase Date: 1Q2012, maybe a month later
Budget Range: Around USD$800
System Usage from Most to Least Important: DVR from OTA, Netflix, Pandora
Parts Not Required: No monitor needed, no OS needed
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Prefer newegg.com, but flexible
Parts Preferences: Intel CPU
SLI or Crossfire: No
Monitor Resolution: 720 or 1080 on HDTV
Additional Comments: Prefer quiet, will be on 24x7, will serve recordings w/xbox 360, wired ethernet
I got this for my htpc because the cooler its really silent and its 65w only, no regrets with this one work like a champ.
About that case..... i have the same case, bought from neweeg ******* fans Came broken, and the box was fully sealed lol.., and you realize that even when the pic have a lcd, the case dont come with it...-.- sigh u made me remember a Bad Day.
After further thought, I think I'll be switching gears and going with this AMD solution. Totals around $724 after rebates. I am considering dropping the SSD and just using the Seagate in order to save $93, may add one later, or buy a used small sata off craigslist in the meantime.
