I'm building a computer for the first time, I know a bit but I need some advice on which motherboard I should get.

These are the parts I've chosen so far, but nothing is definate:

AMD FX-6100
Corsair XMS3 4GB [two of these]
XFX Radeon HD 6770
BitFenix Colossus [already got this]

So my question is, what motherboard should I be getting?

It has to have AM3+ and USB 3.0, apart from that it just needs to be as cheap as possible :)

I'll choose a SATA-III HDD and a PSU and a cheap disk drive after, thanks alot

If this is for gaming then the FX 4100 performs better because games wont use 6 cores and the higher clock of the quad pay off .

Buy the RAM as a dual core kit of 2 x4 gig and make sure its 1.5 volt [ or less]

The money you save on the cpu could be spent on a better graphics card .

Motherboards with a 970 series chipset enable all the power saving features of FX processors so even though there are cheaper options they are best avoided

some have ports for front USB 3 , some dont

alright, dropping down to the fx-4100 will only save me £10 ($15), and I could OC it maybe as its a pretty big case and it will be mostly empty so circulation will be good.

I guess I'll go for 970s then :)

thanks for the advice, i really am a newbz0rz at this lol
