Hello,
I have an old GeForce 7600 GS and it's time for me to upgrade to a new video card. The problem is that my PSU is only 300W and most good video cards ask for more. I was wondering what could be the best video card I can get with that power supply. I will use the graphics card for moderate gaming and I need HDMI for a 23" monitor.

Here are my specs:
Asus IPIBL-LB motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad at 2.4 GHz
6GB RAM
640 GB Hard Drive

PSU specs:
Bestec ATX0300
300W max output
+12V = 19A

So what do you guys think is the best video card I can upgrade to?

Thanks

Best solution

A HD 5670/HD 6670, or wait a month or two, and get a HD 7670.

To be honest, if you want to play any "new" games (i.e. Battlefield, MW3, Crysis, Skyrim) you will need a much more powerful video card. You already know this. However, with that in mind, your old Bestec 300W will not provide anywhere near the power to handle a higher end video card (Watts nor amps).

If you want to upgrade you can look at something like this,

Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Video Card: You can't really go anywhere here, but maybe a 560TI would suffice nicely.

In an attempt to stay within your current specifications, I think the following link is really all you could squeak out:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It will not have any amazing gaming ability.

idiots like you are why I have a hard time recommending tom's to anyone for advice. the OP was gaming on a 7600GS and wants to continue playing at "moderate" levels (OP's own words). At what point in your simpleton brain (with lack of any understanding of the OP finances) did you think the OP wants a high end card?

like yummer or jyjjy stated. the 5670/6670 will do the job
