OCZ ZX or Sesonic X

Solution
No problem! Enjoy. Don't get scared when the PSU fan doesn't spin up... they're made that way. (Hell the x650's fan didn't even spin up in jonnyguru's first test in a hotbox)

Thank you guys for the ultra fast response. This is the fastest response I ever got on TH. You're the best

@recon-uk : Unfortunately, the only Silverstone PSU available in my country is the Strider Gold 1200 which is way too expensive for my liking.

@amuffin: The rig in my signature is what I'm trying to power, plus one GTS 450 SC . I want a new PSU because my current PSU produces a whining sound under heavy loads. At first I thought it was the GPU but no, it's the good ol' Seasonic SS-750JS. This is the third PSU I got in two years. First My ODIN Pro 550W got fried by a seriously bad power fluctuation, then I had to replace my HEC 600W because it I needed it in my sister's rig. And my current PSU. So, I think you'll understand my need to get a premium PSU if only for the reassurance that is usually associated with it.

Silverstone>Seasonic>>>>>>>OCZ

Not so much. While Silverstone is a brand I always recommend that model scores an 8.5 from jonnyguru. It is made by Enhance Electronics.

That specific Seasonic has not been reviewed by jonnyguru but all the other X series models that have been reviewed have scored a 9.5 and it gets a Hardwaresecrets Golden award.

The Seasonic X series is about as good a power supply as you can buy.

The OCZ ZX series is made by Great Wall and the listed model also scores a 9.5 from jonnyguru.

OCZ's newer lines of power supplies are made by Great Wall and Sirtec are very good and usually priced lower than anything else. At least here in the US.

So in reality the very good Silverstone is a pretty big step down from both the Seasonic and the OCZ.

I also felt that Silverstone is a step down from SeaSonic, just by looking at the Newegg reviews for that particular Strider PSU. Then, the SeaSonic X-1050 caught my eye so, I went today and got the X-1050 For $15 more than the OCZ ZX-1000. I plan on installing it on Tuesday (Because of my work). I will update this thread with my impressions about the PSU.

I can't thank you for your help and support. This is the fastest and most informative response I ever got on these forums.

I have the Corsair AX850 in a new i5-2500k build. this is the identical power supply to the Seasonic X850. So far, it's a nice addition to my new system. Most of the time, the fan doesn't even run. I recommend it - by either company.

Again, thank you for the help, guys.

The PSU was somewhat difficult to install in my CM Storm Sniper because my case apparently has a very slight offset in one of the screw holes used for PSU mounting. Also, the 8 pin CPU cable was too short to be routed behind the motherboard tray. I had an 8-pin extension for my older PSU and that did the trick. The 24-pin cable was surprisingly of sufficient length to reach the connector of the motherboard. The installation has significantly less cable clutter than before because of the PSU's modular design. I think I'll only be buying modular PSUs from now on.

Here's a gut shot of the build after the PSU installation.Any further advice about cable management are deeply appreciated.
