I know a lot of people out there spend $$$ overclocking, cooling and generally tweaking their systems.

Does onyone do anything for noise dampening? This may be contrary to cooling because of airflow and heat conduction, but has anyone used soundproofing on their case - and did it work?

You can use some duct tape and foam/expanding foam, isolate the fans with rubber washers and silicone, run your fans at 7volts, create an enclosure and duct the fans.....
There's a bunch of things to do, and they all make a noticable difference.

You can reduce vibration and a little noise by removing the psu then refitting it with a little rubber between the psu and chassis.

I've used that to help some really grotty old noisy machines.

Never hurts to get a good quiet power supply, although you'll pay a premium:

Thanks for that link Sparkplug.

A couple of years ago I built a PC for office use, a desktop with the psu close to me. About the only thing I insisted on was a quiet psu.

Searched the net but couldn't find anyone selling psu's that were designed to be as quiet as possible.

I'm still using that system and I think its time to treat myself.

Once again, thanks.
