Flickering squares problem

Hello everyone!

I'm having problems with my graphics. I have Sapphire HD5770 Vapor-X and I ran drivers I've installed from the CD I got with my GPU. Games ran smoothly without problems. I've tried to play Battlefield 3 and the game told me my drivers were old and I should update them to 11.11 which I did.

After update, Windows 7 64-bit did not recognize drivers. I got messages like in Device Management.

Now that does not worry me. I've decided to revert drivers back to ones I got on CD, but another problem appeared which bothers me the most. Every game I used to run smoothly now has flickering, flashing, squares like this. Note that squares only appear in games, nowhere else.

So far I've noticed the same in Heroes 6, Skyrim and Space Marines.

The only drivers my OS recognizes are the ones on install CD and now those won't work.

I've tried everything including Driver Sweeper and Driver Cleaner, trying to fix it in safe mode, but nothing works.

Here is a link for the latest AMD drivers optimized for the games you are playing. Be sure to select the correct ones. (http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/Catalyst1111aperformance.aspx). You might try to unistall the old drivers with driver sweeper (http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html) first. Reboot after removal and then install the new. You may have to reboot again.

Thank you for your effort Dog, who is also a Snake.

I did everything you wrote, but I keep getting this.

It keeps telling me the installation is completed, but with warnings and it doesn't prompt me to restart the system.

Very odd indeed, I am using that driver on my 6950. Please look at the install log and tell me what the warnings were. If you select to update the driver in device manager what happens? Try letting it search online and also by pointing it to the AMD/support/driver folder on your c drive. Also check device manager for malfunctioning devices.

Already tried that. It tells me I have latest drivers and that's it.
I'll check logs later when I switch to Windows. I'm currently running Linux.

Since I mentioned Linux, I don't have any problem installing 11.11 drivers for Linux.

My friend had that problem once, it turned out to be his video card was not seated completely and the monitor cable was not screwed into the video card.

It could also be from heat issues or overclocking issues. If you decide to reseat the graphics board, try and blow out any dust that may be in there.

I've always had a problem installing graphics drivers when I had my 5870, there were always warnings but all the drivers did actually install.

I'll check the cable, but I doubt it because problems occurred after trying to update drivers. I've also cleaned my card in case of overheating. It's about 40°C and I guess that's ok, right?

The problem started before BIOS mishap.

BIOS mishap occurred in trying of possible solution. Long story short, I've bricked my GPU by flashing BIOS from official Sapphire site, but I've unbricked it with backup BIOS so no harm done here. BIOS mishap has nothing to do with my problem.

Just for a hoot pls download and install GPUZ (http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/). Run it and see what it says about you bios version. Also you might try reinstalling DirectX from the MS site (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17431). Sounds like you are having fun...
