  1. Try switching off the power to your router for a few minutes then putting it back on. Sometimes, that reassociates the router with the connection to the telephone system.
  2. I've tried powering off, and still no luck:( Its connected to the wireless network but just no internet access. The error Is "the default gateway is not available".

  3. Go Start then Run in XP - Windows key plus R in Vista and Windows 7, then type in the following, including all the spaces:-

    cmd /k ipconfig /all

then press Enter and a black form will appear. Right click anywhere in that form and go to SelectAll. Pressing your Enter key places the entire content into your clipboard. Control V puts it back here in a Reply box so we can see what's going on.

You might also check in Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Option>Connection tab>LAN button that there's a tick in Automatically Detect settings and no ticks at all in the two boxes for Proxy settings below that.

Type exit to close the black form.

  4. ok, i had to manually type this in b/c my laptop isn't connected to the internet and i'm assuming you wanted this info off the laptop and not the desktop.

  5. Oh dear - too late to suggest copying and pasting on to a memory stick and transferring over? Sorry.

The information from the PC will assist actually, then alter the settings in the laptop to match those in the machine which can connect. I suspect you'll be looking in Network Connection?Properties>TCP/IP to allow automatic DHCP and you'll end with a default Gateway of 192./168.1.1 or very similar.
  6. ok this is the info from my pc... not sure how to change connection properties to tcp/ip to allow automatic dhcp.

  7. Those settings seem to match so it's hard to see what's wrong with the wireless connection. It would help if you could download and run the Xirrus wi-fi checker from http://widgets.yahoo.com/widgets/xirrus-wifi-monitor and post the results back here.
