what kind of psu and wattage do i need for my system

MY SYSTEM IS

CPU AMD ALTHON ii X2 260 3.2 GHZ DUAL CORE

MOBO Asrock N68-S3 UCC AMD Socket AM3 mATX motherboard

RAM 4GB OF DDR3

HARD DRIVE Samsung 320GB SATA Hard Drive

AND MY GRAPHIC WILL BE A HD 6870

your cpu may bottleneck the hd 6870 so get a step down to hd 6850.

i ask people on my another forum and they said tht this gpu will not bottleneck the cpu at 1280 by 1024 and tht will only bottleneck if the fps drips down below 30

oh sorry i dont know your resolution yes in that resolution it will be fine but little bit bottleneck will be there.but in 1080p resolution it will bottleck.

you should go with only 550w which is more then enough for both your cpu+gpu overclock you dont need that much power.

in cpu dependent games like skyrim and others it will bottlenck

I can tell you that there is CPU bottleneck with 6870. I had a 4890 once, and moving from Piix2 550 to Piix4 955 saw significant FPS improvement over BFBC2 - yes, that was under 1280x1024.

A 700W PSU is about the right size PSU for two HD 6870s.
Get a good one, and one with 4x PCI-e power connectors for the graphics cards.

A good, quality 600W PSU will handle any single graphics card easily.

Why did you want a 700W PSU?

so then why dont you go with hd 6850 which is very good card it can handle games on your resolution with max setings with 2xaa or maybe 4xaa.
