More about increase processor temperature
  1. Just don't install any heat sink, it will heat up alright.... :D

I'm using Hw monitor for monitoring the temp..... and check the temp limit at manufacturer web.. (or just ask google)
  2. Prime95 and/or overclock you processor.
  3. Run a game.

What processor do you have, and what cooling?
As mentioned coretemp and speedfan will allow you to monitor your temperatures and both are free programs
  5. Well if you are using a 2nd or 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processor then your processor will have a build in last chance to save the processor feature called the Thermtrip which is set for 130c. Understand that if the processor gets that hot you can count on something else being damaged but the temperatures.
