So tomorrow my sister is buying a 2nd hand laptop. She has asked me to make sure everything works both internally and externally. What I mean is I need to make sure this laptop works well and doesn't have any problems such as overheating.

If you great people here at Toms can come up with a list to test.
CPU
IGPU
RAM
HDD and anything else That might not work.

Thank you!

You can try the benchmark programs from 3d mark or you can try Prime 95. Just do a Google search and you will find those programs.

Prime95 tests the CPU and RAM, 3DMArk will test the HDD and OCCT will test the CPU + GPU.

Head on over to www.majorgeeks.com, and look at the SW categories on the left part of the screen. They link to lots of freeware diagnostics programs that will do what you want.
