Best thing I've seen that close to $500... It's looking at posts like these that I wish I had a spare hard drive lying around. The 500 GB Hard Drive I'm looking would push this build above $600. Sad times we live in ladies and gentlemen.

Edit: Oh and for $5 you can upgrade your processor to the 2120, which will give you a little more performance for not much cost. And considering both of these are locked, every little bit could help I suppose.

Edit Edit: I can't believe the "List Price" for the the 2120 is $181.50. Amazon Lies!

There will be no benefit to the 2120 for gaming, especially at this level. He would need to step up to an i5 to see noticeable improvement.

I bought my 2100 as a placeholder for a 2500k. However, it handles everything I throw at it so I am going to hang on to it for a while.

Thank you tlmck, acerace, Aeradom for reaffirming me that my parts selection was appropriate. At the end I ended up spending 545 or about 15 dollars above my budget. I replaced the gtx 550ti with a gtx 460 v2 1gb which is a little bit faster than a hd 6850 according to futuremark. Did the change last second before my parts were shipped.

So this is what I got was

windows 7 64bit oem
nzxt gamma case
evga fpb gtx 460 v2 1gb 192 bit (bought from tiger direct 149.99)
8gb of kingston blu ram
dvd drive lite on
Asus motherboard ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM
Core i3 2100
