Hello,
Ok, I am a first time builder and have had fun putting stuff together as I go, but now have everything, and am running into some walls here....
First off... What I'm trying to boot...

Intel i5 2500k, Asus p8z68-v pro/gen3, Corsair GS 800W PS, coomaster 212 HSF, OCZ Agility 3 120G SSD, and 16G Corsair Vengeance RAM..

The mother board shows the power button, all normal LED's on etc... but when I push the power button, I get a flash of quick power then back to standbye lights... frustrating... I've checked my wiring, everything should be good... i did have too much thermal paste applied at first, but went and removed excess, also have a grounding wire for computer case, so that sh[ouldnt be a problem, any suggestions please!!!

The grounding wire could be the problem. The grounding is done through the 3rd wire in the power cord. If you do not have a 3 prong socket to plug into, you would need one of those adapters that attaches to the wall plate screw. http://www.amazon.com/Prong-prong-grounding-converter/dp/B000I96AUM

I would start by removing the ground wire. If that does not fix it, it could be the motherboard shorting on the case. I would follow this guide, specifically the section on breadboarding. If it breadboards fine, then I has to be the case component connect. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems
