    pick core i7 3770..

    and dont ask why...
  2. Hello !

I agree with ^. Go with an Intel i7 LGA1155; you'll then have to choose between Sandy-Bridge (32nm) or Ivy Bridge (22nm).
    If you've got a big budget, go with an i7 LGA2011 Sandy-Bridge-E.

    Good luck,
  3. what's your budget, there's a big difference between the two in terms of price
  4. It's not even close, a dual core i3 is better than the FX8120 in gaming, except maybe for some MMO's and the few multiplayer games that NEED more than 2 cores.

However the i7 has hyperthreading, which does you no good in 99% of games, so you should be looking at a i5, not a i7.
  5. For gaming, you get much better bang/buck with i5 in either 2xxx or 3xxx flavor than anything else on the market. As stated by others, hyperthreading has little or even negative impact on gaming so definitely not worth it if gaming is your only major use.
  6. I7-3770, however is the I5-3570k available?
  7. Yeah if your planning to overclock, get the i5-3570K if not get the i5-3550.
  8. 3570K > 3770K at gaming

Plenty of people bought theirs shortly after launch so they are definitely out there if you shop around. Whether or not your preferred supplier has them in stock is another story.
