Will this gaming setup work?

Can someone tell me if this setup will work. If some of the parts don't please tell some other parts that do. Make sure the substitute parts is similar in quality and price.

2 issues that can be fixed,
Sata III needs the x68(i think its X?) platform, different mobo

z68....

2nd gen (2***) i3,5,7's dont use LGA 1366, they use 1155

you also don't need an i7 in gaming. the 2500k does just as well for $100 less.

That Mobo and CPU are not compatible, you will need a P67/H67/Z68 motherboard for an i7 2600. Here is one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271
Even though it is cheaper, it is still a very good motherboard and will have pretty much all the features you will ever need. If you are solely using this rig for games, I would advise getting an i5 CPU, as the hyper threading in the i7 costs $100 more and does not affect gaming performance.

Sound cards are unnecessary nowadays, the motherboards all have integrated audio.

I'd recommend a Corsair or seasonic PSU if you're looking to build a mid to high end gaming rig

Probably should dump the 6970 as well. By getting the cheaper mobo, 2500k over the 2600, and dropping the soundcard try to get a GTX580 or 7970. These cards will run games much better then a 6970.

Never been a fan of the overly large heat sinks no matter how cool they look. Corsair sells a low profile version of that ram. G. Skill sniper is also good ram but has a lower profile as well.
