  1. I hope you know this is redundant since out of these companies... only a few actually make psus. Most companies buy PSUs from these manufacturers and sell them under their own brand name........

P.S. The best units from most of the top end companies are based on Seasonic units....

Just vote based on preference then :D
  3. Had one of these last month
  4. I know. We usually have at least 3 or 4 PSU surveys a year.
  5. Seasonic and Enermax are the only 2 manufacturers listed. Both are quite good. All the others are resellers.

Saw this same thread last month too :ange:
  6. Seasonic makes most of them up there..

    Most ?
    3 out of 10
    Antec uses some
Corsair uses a few, most of thiers are CWT
    And of course Seasonic
Went thru all of this last month also
Now all we need is for someone to ask " Why no PCP&C ? "
  8. ^ Ok why no PC Power and Cooling? And no Flextronics love? Can't forget them and their share of the Corsair market. ;) Actually it is the best rated Corsair power supply. 9.8 from jonnyguru.

And once again Thermaltake and Coolermaster are not only in the running they are getting votes! And Gigabyte?
  9. diablotek!
    For The Bomb!
    BBBOOOOOOMMM!
  10. I'm surprised no have listed Zippy power supplies, though generally these are seen in Workstation/Server environments.
  11. Enermax is meh pretty good Seasonic IMO is the best!
  12. seasonic best; yet, corsair has the best prices. my vote: corsair.

Ok..where so you guys find the oem info? :/
  15. Based on reviews. When reviewers take apart power supplies; they can usually find out who made what based on design and components used.

There's a chart out there too but it's outdated.
Corsair TX V2 / HX/ and AX are all seasonic based units. TXM and TXV1, CX are CWT. Original VX were seasonic.

Antec uses a mix of seasonic and delta.

    XFX is all seasonic.

Seasonic only makes some Corsair power supplies. CWT makes more than Seasonic does and their best power supply ( highest rated AX1200 ) is made by Flextronics.

    Here:

It is NOT outdated. It's very up to date and even includes future models not released yet ( no reviews for them yet of course ).
  17. +1!

Anorts chart is good. I was thinking about an older chart that used to be linked around here all the time.

    But tyeah!
  18. I voted other: XFX

No, the topic is "which brand". Not "who makes" the best PSUs.
  19. lol well i shouldn't laugh but i just found out my neighbor running his rig with i5-2500k overclocked to 4.8ghz and X2 GTX 480 1.5G in SLI with this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121070&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Power+Supplies-_-Kingwin+Inc.-_-17121070#top and his son is X2 GTX 560TI in SLI with this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153116 ahahahaha wow!!!

If you have the UL code that all decent PSU have, you can find it here: http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/index.html

Sorry, but that AX1200 line is made by Corsair himself, if you check the UL code (E307858) in the page, you can find that info.

It's made by Flextronics ( they also provide Dell with some of thier units )

    http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/06/21/corsair_ax1200_1200w_power_supply_review/

Several "brands" now have thier own UL number

Good reviews are the way to go anymore
  22. ^ Flextronics makes it.

Corsair does not have any fabrication facilities.
  23. my favorite psu makers-
    1-seasonic
    2-super flower
3-enermax(i guess they make their own units)
  24. Some Dell psu = good?
  25. ^maybe.....

They are usually rated at continuous power and not peak like many of the cheaper brands are. Dell keeps it pretty quiet who their vendors are. I know they use FSP/Fortron and Delta. I did not know about Flextronics but as stated above Flextronics makes Corsair's highest rated power supply. It scores a 9.8 from jonnyguru. Delta makes quite a few Antec power supplies including some excellent models.

  27. Dell PSU are rated lower than they can actually output if I remember correctly. 400W Dell psu can output like 500-600W.
  28. I believe most of the dell PSU's they use today are made by delta. Or at least the good ones. Even though they may not be the most efficient; they get the job done quietly without much fuss.

Using the Ecode, like saint mentioned, always worked in the past
Now the makersname ( Flextronics, Delta,,,, ) is generally on the label
The 475 watt unit in the XPS9000 was a Flextronics built unit, don't know where else they may have been used
They [ Dell ] have definitely gotten better with thier offerings over the years, a boatload of them on the 80+ list, upto 80+ Gold
Couple of my favorites were the old, not so efficient 305w/22a and 375w/30a Newton/Deltas, nothing special, just very robust for what they were , much better than many noobs would think

By the way, I use them ( get it ? )
Have used lots of the 305's to replace blown 350w and 450w pos's
Like to see what it takes to burn them up on the bench, overclocked Pentium D and a pair of 8800GTS512's on a Dell 375w anyone ?
  30. maybe we should open up the poll a bit? best looking PSU in a bikini? best hidden talent in a PSU?
  31. What would the contenders be? (Dell psu has to be in here...)
  32. ^coolermaster silent pro gold series.one of the most disrespected but trust me it works like a champ(yeah i agree the fan is not silent).
in terms of looks, xfx and enermax power supplies are cool.
