I'm looking for a new PSU because i'm soon gonna buy the R6870 and i don't think my current PSU will be able to last much long with it. My current PSU is an Xilence XP500.
Its specs: AC INPUT 110-240V | 8.5A - 5.5A | 60 - 50HZ
DC output +3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2 -12V +5VSB
26.0A 30.0A 18.0A 20.0A 0.5A 2.5A
its a 500W PSU.
my other specs are: AMD Athlon II X3 450 3.2 ghz
4gb of transcend DDR3 RAM
Biostar N68S3+
Seagate 500gb HDD
GeForce GT 240 1gb GDDR5

my main concern is that i'll have a problem with connections because the PSU only has 2 molex connectors and no 6pin PCI-E connectors and the 6870 requires 2 PCI-E 6pin connectors.

but eh... the rating on the 12V rail is 34 amps and mine has 2 12V rails 1 rated 20 amps, the other 18 amps which makes it 38 amps in total or did i make a mistake?

Specs like you have given don't always tell the whole story
Does the label of the existing provide the amount of wattage available to the 12v rails, if not chances are the rails don't add up
Providing make and model is better than giving the labels specs
