PC & Power Cooling 1200W trade to Corsair HX1000?

Last response: in Components

Hello! Currently, I own a PC & Power Cooling 1200W PSU. It's a very efficient PSU, thing is, it's so darn loud and it's not modular. Is it a good trade if I switch this one with a Corsair HX1000 PSU? As of the moment, I don't know the pricing of my current PSU and if it's advisable to purchase a brand new one instead.

Here's a link of PC & Power Cooling 1200W: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Cases-and-Cooling/PC-Power...

HX1000: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-r...

My specs are:
2500k OC'ed to 4.5
8gb vengeance ram
ASROCK z68 extreme4 gen3 mobo
asus 580 DCU ii card (Planning on SLI-ing this GPU in the future)

Help and advise is much appreciated. :)

Turbo-Cool 1200W - over 45 dBA at any load

Is the Corsair HX1000 also an older, used model?
New models should be even quieter.

How much will the Corsair HX1000 cost you?
We can check for better options in the same price range.

Not sure how much you'd get for a 2007/2008?? PC & Power Cooling 1200W PSU.

As of now, I'll just swap my psu with someone. I'll only add around 25$. I really don't know how much my PSU currently sells.

Much appreciated if someone would suggest a PSU. Thanks!

Today, a new PC & Power Cooling 1200W sells for $400.
You should be able to fetch a decent price for it on e-bay. My guess is $150-$200, but who really knows?
Some people value the absolute performance over any noise issue.

For sli GTX580, you will want about a 850w psu.

My suggestion is a Seasonic X series 850w or 1050w gold rated psu which will set you back $200 or so.
It is modular, and the gold efficiency means that the fans will hardly ever turn on.

Granted that's a 4 year old power supply which takes about 20-30% performance out of it according to power supply calculators. So i would say less than $120 you could sell it for since you can buy a better power supply with newer technology for cheaper than $250 from seasonic or corsair.

Yes a HX1000 would be a nice trade. if its only gonna cost you 25$

It's gonna cost him much more than that, the TC 1200's used to go for over $500, more than double the cost of an HX1000
Trading one for a used HX1000 is a losing proposition any way you look at it

@geofelt, I think I'm gonna check on that. Just posted my price for 200$.

@mightymaxio, I'll check the offers of the potential buyers.

@delluser1, it really was expensive back then.

Here's some pics of my PSU:
