Steady amber light what do that mean

i have a compaq labtop. there is a steady amber light (dont know what that means). all the other lights are blue. monitor screen is black. can someone tell me what is wrong and maybe how to fix it.

Can you provide the model number for us to help dignose it a little better?

Amber lights are normally hard drive activity lights though,
and if you have a manual, the lights function will be explained in there as well
