Hello,
as an nvidia fanboy for many many years, i dont know much about ati/amd cards. when i first decided to give them a try with this current build, i thought clearly the 6970 was the best card if going by the numbering system, now after reading alot of articles im really confused. looking towards the future, as in atleast 1+ years of use, whats the best graghics card solution for UNDER $400. the 5970, 2 6870s in xfire, one 6970 with maybe an xfire in the next year, or a 570 from nvidia.
p.s. this all started because im also an amd fanboy and with this build i wanted to break down and build around the scorpious platform. that is not the case anymore, so im rlly open to anything.

More about : 5970 2x6870 6970 570

All depends on your monitor resolution, I personally if building with an AMD card would go HD6950 1GB for single monitor and 2 x HD6950 2GB for a eyefinity setup.

well i'll be using Asus VK278Q Black 27" 1920x1080 2ms Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Webcam 300 cd/m2 10,000,000 :1 as my primary and gaming display, with 1 or 2 sceptre naga 19"1280x1024 as my browsing monitors(altho IF the eye infinity gimmick is cool enough i may use them as the side monitors in a 3 mon set up)

Single HD6950 2GB to start with? Or even the HD6970.

i know this may sound crazy, as coming from nvidia fairly ordered numbering system, but you think as far as single cards go, a 6970-$350 is better then a 5970-$329?

i only ask because that's what i was orginally gonna get (the 6970) but it seemed like i read a review on here saying the 5970 was the better one.

If you can get a HD5970 for $329 jump! It is a dual GPU card close in performance to 2 x HD6950 in CF!
