CROSSFIRE MODE

I have a amd radeon 6870, i had my computer costume built and i cant figure out the brand or who make the card. I was wandering if i could just buy any amd radeon 6870 graphics card and any crossfire bridge. So i can crossfire them? can i do it like that? and one more thing, so far i have 3 games i play Magicka, Minecraft, and Skyrim. When i play skyrim for about 1 to 2 hours the screen goes black, or blue and all i hear is the noise from the game. And after about a minute the noise stops and i have to restart my computer... but when i play minecraft or magicka it doesnt do that, the screen doesnt go black or blue. Does anyone know what could be going on?!?!?

Any HD6870 can crossfire with another one regardless of manufacturer. Make sure your PSU is up to the task.
Does your motherboard support CF?
On your issue check temps on the card!

yes, when i ordered my psu it said crossfirex, and it has an extra blue bar on it for another one. is there a program to check temp?

CCC has overdrive it will give temp. Which PSU do you have, make and model? (lots of units with a stickers saying they can but can not)

i have a GIGABYTE GA 970A0D3 AM3+ crossfire USB3.0 SATA3


, my gpu works fine for less graphics intense games(WoW, Magicka, Minecraft) ... i called cyberpower they said it could be failing. ALSO i dont know if this is a big deal or not but i dont have an air intake fan.

That is not a good board for crossfire since the second PCIe x16 slot runs at X4 speed. I personally would look for a single card upgrade. Still want to know what PSU they sold you, they have some crap in stock.

Possibly! I would say either PSU or GPU.
