DVI is a superior display connection to VGA. DVI-D is pure digital, and at higher resolutions and refresh rates, the difference is very noticable. VGA can suffer from ringing / bluring / ghosting at higher resolutions, especially if cheap cables are used, or the cables are longer than normal. After all, VGA is an analog technology. Not only this, but VGA doesn't support HDCP, which is required for protected HD content.
