I NEED TO DO 3D WORK IN SKETHCUP REVIT 3D MAX WOULD IT BE BETTER FOR ME TO BUY A DELL PRECISION OR A TOP CONFIGURATION ALIENWARE M17

For your type of work go with a Quadro. They are ideal for 3D work, but not a for gaming.

If your going to need mobility then get the laptop, but otherwise, i would go with the desktop and get more bang for your buck. desktops are usually much cheaper for the same performance.

i think ill go with the precission since mobility is really important for me but i dont know how mucho better will the precission be since it come with a real basic configuration a very costly

Hm well if you could provide the final specs on the Alienware. CUDA can be pretty decent for 3D rendering. As long as the screen is......a 3D laptop

No they only had Gforce 560m and 580m

Check the program requirements to see if it allows for OpenGL acceleration. If so, you want the Quadro as the GeForce cards do not support OpenGL.
