Hello,
So, I have a problem with freezing games, which never used to happen, but has started and wont seem to stop.
It first started with Assasins Creed 2. I had been playing it for ages fine, and then all of a sudden it would freeze uo - the screen goes black and the sound continues for a few seconds before looping, and there are tiny white specs going up and down in the centre of the screen.
Then it started to happen with Hald Life 2. Only a few minutes into play - the EXACT same thing.
And now it has started happening on Skyrim. Note that I had been playing all of these games without a problem for quite a while.
I also have installed Shogun 2, Dragon Age Origins, commandos, the movies, football manager 2011 with no issues, and I had gone through and completes deus ex human revolution with no problems at all. Its now uninstalled.
I have no idea what to do and its really annoying because I cant really play these games.
My specs are -
Sony Vaio VGNFW51MF, Intel Core Du T9600, 2.8Ghz, 6mb Cache, 8gb RAM, 1GB graphics - ATI mobility radeon HD 4650. 500gb hard drive. Let me know if you need more info.
I saw on some other forum that some people suggested updating drivers, but apparently I cant do that on my one, and it wont seem to let me when I go on the driver website. Help!
Please note that i am not computer literate at all! So any help will have to be step by step please! Many thanks!

gfx memory. damn shame. in a laptop not a lot can be done...

To be honest it is probably the solder joints have gone, explains why it suddenly started and presents whenever games start to run. Thermal stress has probably caused this, it is kind of like what caused RROD on xboxes.

As a VERY LAST resort you can strip it down and bake the whole damn mobo (normally you just bake the GFX card, but in your case it is soldered straight onto the board probably), unless it is one of the few laptops with a removable gfx card.

If the laptop is under warrenty I would send it to be fixed under that... Just to be clear, my previous suggestion is a LAST RESORT!
