Hi,
I have decided to build my own computer. I have selected what i want and am wondering if they are compatible and what power supplies you would suggest. Thank you!

Case- Cooler Master Elite 430 mid tower

Video card- XFX AMD Radeon HD 6870

Processor- i5 2500k

MOBO- ASUS P8P67 DELUXE LGA 1155

Optical Drive- Asus 24xDVD±RW Drive DVD-RAM

Hard Drive- Crucial 128 GB m4 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s CT128M4SSD2

Memory- Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16Gb

Any advice would also be appreciated!

Looks good. Since you are getting a 2500K you will want an aftermarket cooler so you can overclock it. The Coolermaster Hyper 212+ or 212 Evo are good low cost choices ( Evo is a bit better ).

If you get Corsair Vengance get the low profile kind so you will not have clearance issues with the CPU cooler. Or get GSkill Ripjaws X both are great choices. I would go with whatever is cheaper. Make sure you get 1.5v RAM.

For the listed build I would go with a 500-550w power supply. If you wanted to add a second card later make it a 700-750w power supply. Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling, XFX, Enermax, Silverstone and Antec all make great power supplies.

:hello:

Looks like a good build. Could you fill this out? It will help others provide better feedback.

As for the power supply, this looks like it should be sufficient:

SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply $59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817151094

If you plan to Crossfire down the road, this may be a better choice:
XFX Core Edition PRO650W (P1-650S-NLB9) 650W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply $89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817207014

Also, if you plan to overclock, one of these two may be a wise investment:

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Compatible with latest Intel 1366/1155 and AMD FM1/AM3+ $44.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835103099

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835103065

Some people say the 212+ does just as well as the EVO. I can't say for certain so I'll let you decide on that.

For the RAM, I read a post here not long ago about how Intel will void your warranty if your RAM is clocked higher than 1333. Not sure what your RAM speed is but I suppose this is something to look out for.

You may be able to save some money with the P8p67 pro

And here is another PSU option that is ~$60 after MIR

Thanks everyone! I think i have an idea of what power supply I want. Also the coolers helped alot! Yes I plan on overclocking later down the road.
Ya i looked into the My Ram I want and it is clocked at about 1600MHZ. But what im wondering is that Intels compatability page http://www.intel.com/content/dam/d [...] pliers.pdf

It says that the Corsair Vengeance 16Gb 1600MHZ works with the MOBO i said, and works with the i5 2500k processor.

When you say low profile do you mean to get the 8gb Corsair Vengance? I was looking at the 16gb because it was only about $20 more.

Either kit will fit under a large air cooler.

Okay, thank you! i think ill get the Corsair you suggested. And it would also solve my problem of intel voiding the warranty if it runs at 1600MHZ!

Reply to zandalore

Going over 1.5v does void the warranty. Some people have also been asked about RAM speed as well but not everyone. If you are going to overclock I recommend the new Intel protection plan. You get one no questions asked CPU replacement if you accidently fry your chip. It's $20 for an i5 2500K and $25 for a 2600K.
